Menu Monday/100th Post!

Pork & Brussels Sprout StirFry
(We used pork tenderloin instead of chops and teriyaki instead of soy sauce. We didn't add the extra water either, and it was a surprisingly good dish!)

This here menu marks our 100th post! Yay. :)

Happy Halloween!

    Fall Favorites

This weekend was full of fall favorites! Pumpkin carving, cider, Georgia football, yummy food, changing leaves and the Sanderson Sisters all made appearances. :)

On Friday night, it was rainy and cold...perfect for carving a pumpkin and drinking apple cider!

This guy has been patiently waiting since we bought him a few weeks ago, and I found some printable carving templates...where else...on Pinterest!

We thought this one had the right mix of fun and spooky.

Here's our cider - home* and away teams.

*Do you notice the chip in the glaze on this mug, right above the handle? FYI - If you pour boiling hot liquid into a chipped mug, it can start to expand, and the handle might even pop off. The sound of cracking pottery isn't exactly what you want to hear when you're carrying blazing cider across the room in said pottery!

Sad - it was one of our favorites. Atlanta skyline and all!

Then yesterday, we hit up a sale at (the cold and windy) Atlantic Station. They were having a Fall Festival, and I lost count of how many balloons the windy weather "stole."

But most importantly, we got together with some of our favorite people to watch GEORGIA BEAT FLORIDA!

Hallelujah, Dawgs! It was about time!

I'm pretty sure it was (almost) as loud as the actual stadium in Taco Mac for several rounds of calling the Dawgs as well as plenty of chanting, "It's great (woof woof) to be (woof woof) a Georgia Bulldog!" Definitely the highlight of the weekend!

Today was fueled by Panera creamy tomato soup and an "adult" grilled cheese. (There's one on the kids' menu, but they'll make you a grown-up version with your choice of bread and cheese if you ask. Good to know!)

We had some errands to run after lunch, but during those errands, I learned that my husband had never seen what is only one of the best Halloween movies of all time...

We promptly came back home and watched it. Amok, amok, amok!

Our last fall festivity was to ride through some of the pretty neighborhoods nearby and look at all the beautiful leaves before they start, well...falling. You can only take so many photos in a neighborhood before people start to wonder what exactly you're doing, but I did snap this one!

Hope you've had a fun fall weekend, too. Next weekend brings Daylight Savings Time. Or in other words...time to get cozy! Can you believe it?

    Not Really Menu Monday

Not too much going on in our kitchen this week! We're having leftovers from last week and the weekend, freezer enchiladas and old worn-out (but still delicious) bowtie lasagna.

Here's a yummy salad combo we had last week though!

BBQ Chicken with Black Beans, Corn, Scallions and Grape Tomatoes
over Mixed Greens with "Homemade" Ranch

What about yall? Has anyone tried a good recipe lately? :)

    Fur, Fam & Fair

We got back tonight from a fun weekend trip to the Boro! We're catching up on the way less fun general weekend tasks now, so I'll mostly just share pictures.

Number one on the agenda was meeting these sweet wittle bitties!

    Midge & Mae Mobley
(a.k.a. Tim & Jim, Dash & Dot, etc.)

Big brothers got a little bit of love, too.

Typical. Toby is suspicious, and Rocco's got the red ball.

Also on the agenda was attending a baby shower for my cousin Sara and baby Brent!

Brent will be joining the family around Christmas time.

And, finally, we had to make our annual stop at the Kiwanis Ogeechee Fair! This was the 50th annual fair--obviously a longtime favorite attraction of Bulloch and surrounding counties.

There were other attractions besides the rides, of course.

    The Pancake House

    Racing (and Swimming!) Pigs

My Favorite "Ride" (as Andrew said)
    4-H Minibooths

One booth asked a very important question...

The Saddest Little Petting Zoo Ever

    (This is a cavy.)

The Carnie Game that Andrew WILL Win One Day

The fair was good, old-fashioned fun as always!

We also mixed in a little family time and food (of course) before heading back to the big city.

The kitties gave us a rousing farewell.

    Have a good week!

    Less Pinning, More Doing

A pin about pinning. Very meta. But also very appropriate.

Sooo many cute, beautiful, delicious-looking, creative, etc., things are on Pinterest, and it's so darn easy to "pin" them all. Unfortunately, you can't pin motivation, which is also a necessary component.

BUT, here are a couple of "pins" I saw and then actually and successfully made!

    Cinnamon Roll Cake
    Recipe via Here
    In a word: yum.

(I was being lazy and did not sift the flour or use my stand mixer. Ironically, my laziness caused me to over mix it by hand, which resulted in the more...cornbread-like?...texture on top. It didn't look like a real, pretty cinnamon roll like the original did, but it was GOOD. We do not discriminate based on texture in this house. Unless it's gazpacho. And then I do.)

    Dry Erase Board
    via Here

The frame was super cheap at Target ($2.99, I think). For some reason, Michael's had approximately zilcho sheets of cute scrapbook paper (unless you wanted to buy the $24.99 pack of course), so I picked up a quilt fabric single instead. You can see that it's a teeny bit wrinkly, so scrapbook paper would indeed be the better choice. When I find some I like, I'll switch it out...maybe even with some of the good stuff!

(Also, we apparently don't have any dry erase markers, and I've failed to remember to buy them since making the board. Maybe because I can't write it on the board! A vicious cycle.)

So there. Less pinning, more doing. :)

    Menu Monday

    Last week's dinners...all winners!

Goood Monday morning! It looks like we are in the mood for some comfort food this week. :) The temperature is supposed to get much cooler as the week goes on, so this should work out well!

    Here's what we're having:

    Afternoon at the Park

We took advantage of the beautiful weather today to meet Andres, Allyson and Austin at the park! We enjoyed some chatting and playing. Just a few pics...

We had fun, guys! Hope everyone is having a nice Sunday. :)
