Less Pinning, More Doing

A pin about pinning. Very meta. But also very appropriate.

Sooo many cute, beautiful, delicious-looking, creative, etc., things are on Pinterest, and it's so darn easy to "pin" them all. Unfortunately, you can't pin motivation, which is also a necessary component.

BUT, here are a couple of "pins" I saw and then actually and successfully made!

Cinnamon Roll Cake
Recipe via Here
In a word: yum.

(I was being lazy and did not sift the flour or use my stand mixer. Ironically, my laziness caused me to over mix it by hand, which resulted in the more...cornbread-like?...texture on top. It didn't look like a real, pretty cinnamon roll like the original did, but it was GOOD. We do not discriminate based on texture in this house. Unless it's gazpacho. And then I do.)

Dry Erase Board
via Here

The frame was super cheap at Target ($2.99, I think). For some reason, Michael's had approximately zilcho sheets of cute scrapbook paper (unless you wanted to buy the $24.99 pack of course), so I picked up a quilt fabric single instead. You can see that it's a teeny bit wrinkly, so scrapbook paper would indeed be the better choice. When I find some I like, I'll switch it out...maybe even with some of the good stuff!

(Also, we apparently don't have any dry erase markers, and I've failed to remember to buy them since making the board. Maybe because I can't write it on the board! A vicious cycle.)

So there. Less pinning, more doing. :)

  1. Good for you for being productive with your pinning! I've got several things I'm itching to try. The cake looks awesome. I've been craving cinnamon rolls!

  2. I never sift my flour. I'm a rebel, what can I say?! If it looks really lumpy, I might whisk it a few times.

The dry erase board is super cute! Well done!
