Montreal 2012 {Mercredi: Arrivée et Ville de Mont-Royal}

{Wednesday: Arrival and Town of Mount Royal}

We headed out of Atlanta early on Wednesday morning on our way to Montreal. (Sadly, Canada is not an international "enough" destination to require use of the new international terminal at Hartsfield, so we didn't get to see it. Dang.) It was a good flight -- even for those of us who do not care much for flying...

Andrew's Grandma Dort lives in Montreal, so he has visited many times over the years. I had never been though, and he hadn't been in more than ten years. So needless to say, we were excited to arrive!

We took a cab to her house, which is in the Town of Mount Royal (TMR - or VMR, if you're going French). TMR happens to be celebrating its 100th birthday this year!

Casa de Dort
(For you Sandra Rinomato/HGTV fans, it's a "semi-detached"!)

It was mid-afternoon by that point, so we had some lunch and took a little drive around TMR to look at all the beautiful houses. We also went on a walk to Gundy Park, of which I have seen many childhood photos!

Then Dort treated us to dinner at one of her neighborhood favorites, Pizzaiolle, which is located in a restored train station.

After we stuffed ourselves full of pasta, we walked across the street to the rose garden in the middle of town and even caught some lawn bowlers in action!

We walked back home and went to bed early in preparation for our -- shall we say, ambitious? -- Thursday itinerary...

Disclaimer: I'm going to do a post for each day of the trip, which I'm sure could be a bit much. ;) I usually don't like it when bloggers say, "I'm really just doing this to document it for us!" (Because why not just make a scrapbook?) But I don't do scrapbooks, so...I'm really just doing this to document it for us and hoping yall will enjoy it a little bit too! Feel free to skim for pictures.
